The Philosophy

For Glory and For Beauty

An underlying Philosophy of SPARC is found in the Old Testament of the Christian Bible :
Exodus 28:2-3 (NKJV)- Garments for the Priesthood
And you shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother, FOR GLORY AND FOR BEAUTY (emphasis added). 3 So you shall speak to all who are GIFTED ARTISANS, WHOM I HAVE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM (emphasis added), that they may make Aaron’s garments, to consecrate him, that he may minister to Me as priest

FOR GLORY AND FOR BEAUTY
This passage has a specific context and message to do with the producing and consecrating of the Priesthood, their Garments and items of worship, but it’s symbolic of the use of technology and art (craftsmanship) for the purposes of glorifying and worshiping God and also for Cultural Influence.

WHO - Verse 3 addresses the community whom SPARC seeks to serve:
‘gifted artisans, whom I (God) have filled with the spirit of wisdom.’

WHY and HOW - Verse 2 addresses the motivation / foundation of SPARC:

FOR GLORY AND FOR BEAUTY(expressed both ways):

  • God’s Glory and Beauty reflected in our Professional and Creative Expression
  • Professional and Creative Expressions, which are motivated to Glorify God and be full of Beauty.

Through SPARC we’re hoping to provide a platform and environment for those who have a sense that what they’re doing professionally and creatively, also has an intrinsic relationship with their faith. ie: we should express this higher calling (or allow it to motivate us to) to develop authentic and ‘beautiful’ (remarkable / outstanding / meaningful) work and relationships.
